I am starting out from SJPDeP on the second week of January 18 Please is it possible to get a current update on the accommadation available where as the albergues, and hostels will be open for business along the route to Santiago. its no joke arriving in a small town,or hamlet, and finding no place to stay. rain running down your nose, sore feet, and little food in your back pack. adds to the misery. thanks

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
One place for sure is Trinidad de Arre. Just before Pamplona. Well, about 5k before.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
The pilgrim office at SJPdP will give you a list of all the alberques and opening dates. There is a resource on here giving a list of the recommended albergues. I used it a lot and would phone ahead to check whether they had a bed available if I turned up an hour or two later, some would reserve you a bed and some would tell you that although they couldn't reserve you a bed they would say "we've got 70 beds and only 12 occupied, you should be alright."

Thanks very much for all the info. I'm sorted and feeling good now. i walked the same camino last year 18/1/17. and on a few occasions entered some villages/towns to find that the list given in SJPdeP. was inaccurate. you know that feeling, your eyes well up. Buen Camino to anyone who will be walking at this time.

Perfect memento/gift in a presentation box. Engraving available, 25 character max.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Hence the need to phone ahead and check! If I was in one village and debating whether to continue on or to find a place in the next village or town, I would call up the albergue in the next village and ask if they had a bed for that night. The phrase to learn is "tienes una cama por este noche?" I'm sure you understand Si and No. If you find errors on the list issued, email and tell them, I did.
