It is a bit saddening to see so few out and about on Christmas Eve Day in SdC, The day is full of such anticipation for Christians - many of whom are pilgrims.

I don't think it's sad. It's pretty normal. The weather is bad, there's still a plague going around, and Christmas is a religious holiday in Spain, not the mad rush it's become elsewhere. In Spain, the holly-jolly racket happens at Three Kings Day, 6 January. Christmas is still a family gathering, church-going thing.

Why don't we just assume that everybody is cosy at home with their loved ones, as I hope all of you are!

That looks much more quiet to me, rather than sad. People are probably home and dry, with family.

My local butcher’s shop usually has customers queued round the block for days before Christmas. This morning I managed to walk straight in and buy Henry the (actual) dog a sausage-roll with no queue whatsoever.

I think that the sensible majority have chosen to modify their behaviour at the moment, out of an abundance of caution and without their government treating them as infants.

Personally. I doubt that ‘everything’ will ever return to how it was - but that’s the future for you: things change.

A little medical tourism recently led me to Lithuania. I took the opportunity for a short visit to the Hill of Crosses - a place of pilgrimage for many Lithuanians. Snow certainly added to the experience then! There can be a very special atmosphere to a winter pilgrimage. Thanks for that reminder

Living in S.Texas?
We are bereft of an actual winter..here in the land of eternal summer.
It was 79f up until an hour ago at 1900hrs
Even with arthritis that burns of hellfire and damnation below 40f..i would love to be there under the lovely darkness of a winter bourne plaza.
