I would like to book accommodation in an albergue in St Jean the night before I start walking. I hope to buy my Camino passport when I arrive at about 19:00. I am having difficulty finding a albergue website where I can book ahead. Any suggestions please. JR

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

When you arrive in SJPdP go to the Pilgrim Office at 39 rue de La Citadelle which is on the camino. Purchase your Credencial and ask about albergue accommodation. The office keeps an up to the minute list of all places available and will help you find a spot when you are on site.

However this Gronze.com list in Spanish provides several options in SJPdP. Tap each citation for email addesses if available for booking reservations.

Buen camino!

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hi you could google accomodation in STPDP - that's how I booked Gite Ultreia. They will respond in English and its not expensive - under 20 euros, if I am not mistaken.... have good reviews.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I was able to book at the Aubergue du Pelerin just down from the Pilgrims office but it was my worse experience of the whole camino. The accommodation is ok but I'd eat somewhere else and the hospitalero was sadly pretty unfriendly. But fear not it gets much better in Spain

I stayed there for two nights in May of last year and I found "la madame" to be very pleasant.

My suggestion is L'Esprit de Chemin. Almost across the street from the registration office, and excellent food and accommodations. It is run by a Dutch couple. http://www.espritduchemin.org/en

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
