Alternative Route from Puebla de Sanbria to Requejo de Sanab

Hi All,

As the walking season has started I thought I would document an alternative route from Puebla de Sanabria to Requejo de Sanabria. It goes via Lobeznos and Pedralba de la Praderia. The route is waymarked and avoids walking along the N-525 for much of the way.

A google map of the route is here

There are several ways of getting to the start of the track across the moor. Unfortunately there is no streetview on Google for Puebla de Sanabria or the other villages.

All the guide books I have seen direct you north out of Puebla de Sanabria to the N-525 and Terroso. This route is a bit shorter. We were there at the end of October 2011. We were a bit lost getting out of Puebla de Sanabria in the rain and asked a local for directions. We were pointed to some yellow arrows that lead us to the CL622 which to me felt as if it was going too far south. so we backtracked and found a broken waymark at the path that lead across the moors to Lobeznos. Just before Lobeznos you cross the construction of the new AVE high speed rail line. There are no facilities in either Lobeznos or Pedralba de la Praderia but they have the carved perigrino plaques at the entrance to each village.. There were many locals out gathering chesnuts.

The roads are quiet but watch out for traffic going through the tunnel under the railway line in Pedralba de la Praderia.

Buen Camino

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
