April 2024 Camino Francés

A selection of Camino Jewellery
I'm debating when in April to start because I really want to be able to go through the Napoleon route. Definitely after Easter too. Still trying to find the best shoes. And like you, @bobegg , it'll be my first, and am excited and apprehensive.

Any pilgrims planning on starting the Camino Frances at the beginning of April 2024. This will be my first and I’m excited and apprehensive !
My husband and I are planning on starting the second week of April. We walked the Camino Frances this year, but started in March so had to walk the Val Carlos route. Had the most wonderful time and met the best people all along the way. We walked the Portuguese route from Porto in 2022. We are a bit addicted at this point. We both wore Hoka shoes on both routes.

Hi Bobegg - leaving SJPDP about 24 April 2024. Looking forward with nervous anticipation - will be my first as well.

Hi! I will start from Bayonne with my girflend probably by april the 4th, more or less, following the Baztan way. It will be our first time. We have make this year an important decision that will change our day to day life, and we have feel the call for a time of "rest". To close with the old and open to the new. Maybe we will meet us after Pamplona!

Hi, I am planning on starting the Camino Frances on March 28th from SJPDP, looking forward to some sort of experience for Easter. I am aware I may not be able to cross the Pyrenees due to possible snow, but last time I did the Camino, I started on June 18th, it poured the entire day and was very cold. I also did not have a view, so I decided that it is definitely hard to plan around the weather, especially these days. I decided on the possibility of less people and hopefully some decent weather. Everything will work out and I wish you a wonderful pilgrimage. Buen Camino

You'll be a day ahead of me! I'm doing 2 overnights in SJPDP, arriving on the 27th but not starting until the 29th. Planning on no view, so I can be pleasantly surprised if there is one along the Valcarlos route. Perhaps we'll bump into each other. Buen Camino!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

You will not be able to walk the Napoleon route because it is closed by law until April 1st.

I've heard of the bus/shuttle but I can't find it anywhere. Do you have a link to the thread or website?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

There is a noon bus from Pamplona to SJPdP. The bus company is Alsa.

There will be taxis at the train or bus station that can take you to St Jean.
You can also check out this taxi company.

Anyone starting on or near 1st of April 2024 from STJPD?
We are planning to start 22nd March but feeling very nervous about the weather. We are locked in with our airfares and should have started a month later. We love the cold but snow is scary ! Feeling happy about the Valcarlos Route but didn’t really want to walk the Camino in pouring rain and possible snow. 😀

Even if you wait until May you can face freezing temperatures, driving rain, or even snow.

My wife and I will start from SJPDP March 15th. From watching the webcams at Fuentes de Irache and Les Chalets de Iraty, it seems like the weather near our starting point has been fairly nice over the past several weeks -- not much rain or even snow. That's no guarantee we won't get pummeled by bad weather when we start, though.
