Late august 2024, route choices

Time of past OR future Camino
Camino del Norte-Primitivo April-May 2018
I have been planning to do do more Camino walking for several years. Last year to celebrate 5 years since my introduction to the Camino experience I was prepared to walk in April, May, and June. Irun to Ribadeo, then switch to the Ruta del mar and merge into the Ingles. However family and health issues forced cancellation of that trip.

Now I am looking into this fall. My desire is to walk the del Norte from Irun to Ribadeo, then continue on the Ruta del Mar, merge into the Ingles, then do the Fistera-Muxia. I would also like to walk the Primativo again from Oviedo to Melide.
Not necessarily in that order though.
I have to be in Boston through the 10th of August.
Then I can fly to Spain and start walking. Not in my opinion the best time to be walking! I am concerned about the crowds and albergue availability on the del Norte during August. I am assuming that the Primitivo will probably be cooler and less crowded that the del Norte seaside routes would be during the last days of summer
My thought is that I might start with the Primativo from Oviedo during that last 1/2 of August, and after reaching Melide double back and start the Del Norte from Irun, and continue on with Ruta del Mar, Ingles, Fistera, Muxia.

I know thats a lot of walking, my very quick and dirty estimate is that I might be getting close to 2000 km if I do the whole enchilada.
But, I walked over 1100 km in 2018 and I really wanted to walk more when I finished and my body was definitely ready for more.
I so much enjoyed the solitude, tranquility, and natural beauty of the seaside walking on the Camino del Norte and the pastoral beauty of the Primitivo. This route hopefully will provide lots of opportunity for more of those periods of solitude and introspection. And lots of Natural beauty to boot.
My other real concern is heat, being in my mid 70’s I don’t do as well above about 27 or 28C as I did in the past.
My only previous Camino IMG_2829.jpegexperience was walking April-May and that would be my choice, but circumstances dictate otherwise.

I would appreciate any experienced August-September-October del Norte/Primitivo walker sharing their thoughts on this plan!

Almost forgot, I also hope to catch at least one stage of the Vuelta a Espana!

Buen Camino

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
In August the Primitivo may be hot but would not have the tourist crowds of the coast. In September the coastal weather will likely be ideal. But there could be rain. In October there will be rain. Buen Camino

I would consider how long such a trip would take, and whether you might run afoul of Schengen rules (depending on your passport).

Guides that will let you complete the journey your way.
