Aviles onwards

In 2011 when doing the Norte because of the rain we bused from Villaviciosa to Oviedo expecting to stay a night and return to continue.
However we stayed 3 nights and thus had to restart @ Luarca .

This year we are starting in Bidart [ Biarritz], we hope to go as far as Navia and/or Tapia and then *return to Oviedo for the Primitivo.

We wish to stop this year in every village we bypassed in 2011 , an example of this is Naves.

We intend to stay a night at least in Gijon as well as Aviles.
***Any advice on where to commence after Aviles ,
Is it Piedras Blancas , as Alan indicates is the finish of the industrial area , or
Cudillero , as i think i can remember Laurie saying she loved this village before we took of last time, or
Maybe Soto or Cadavero,

Any recommendations on accommodation between Aviles-Luarca is also appreciated.
For some reason i have marked Canero , have no idea why.

I think Aviles is the end of the Industrial area(?), the German guides recommend going the coastal path from Muros de Nalon to Cudillero, I think you come upon the village from a high, if you go the Camino you have a beautiful walk to El Pitto then go into the fishing village through the backend of it.
The Camino used to go along the Costa Naveiga before Navia, it probably changed because they opened an Albergue inland, I saw a blog recently of someone who walked this traditional way to Santiago. The difficulty will be joining up with it after Luarca, it may be the Camino goes quite close to the start, it goes all the way to Navia along low cliff tops, through gentle coves and alongside beaches, there is some little villages you can stop at or refuel.

Just re-read your post again and realised you have asked about Canero, it has a hotel which is really popular with pilgrims, if I manage to get over the Sierra de Las Palancas I am going to try and slog it over the next 8 km from Cadavedo to Canero, I have stopped there in the past and had my morning coffee and pasteserie, it is a friendly place, it's a very short distance walk-on from a chapel/ermita.
