BA and Iberia Airlines have merged and have combined many of their flight schedules. They have already started to amend some of the routes and costings for later in the year.
The British and the Spanish airlines completed the merger in January 2011. It is called International Airlines Group, but the BA and Iberia brands continue to operate as normal. The company began began trading on 21 January 2011 with shares being listed in London and Madrid and became a FTSE 100 constituent on 24 January 2011. BA is no longer listed on the stock exchange.
This has affected us in South Africa.
The flights we booked a couple of months ago were cancelled as a result of the new schedules and we have been put onto flights a day earlier. (Meaning that we have had to change our connecting flights and pay for an extra night's accommodation).
Where Iberia flew from Johannesburg to Madrid or Barcelona almost every day, they now fly only on 4 or 5 days and the other flights are operated by BA taking people to Madrid, via London, on BA with huge increase in flight prices.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Oh my! I wonder if this will affect our flights from the US since we are flying Iberia on "One World" with American from DC to JFK to Madrid to OPorto. Since BA, Iberia and AA were all partners, I'm hoping not. I do know that Iberia is not flying directly out of DC any more. Sorry to hear about the impact on you.

I'm sure your travel agent would have let you know of any changes but if you booked on line, check with Iberia. Some of the flights have had time changes as well. We were leaving at 10h30pm and are now due to fly 2 hours earlier.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Oh, what inconvenience this is to many people. It is not suitable for most to have to go a day or more before or after planned.
Thanks for letting us know this, sillydoll.
I am taking a domestic plane with Iberia in March, but as you say, I guess I should have heard by now if it affectes my flight. I am going to check on their web though.
