British Airways' has been heavily criticised by a local Manchester MP after announcing its decision to abandon its international services from Manchester airport.
Graham Stringer, the MP for Blackely, claimed that BA no longer has the right to its status as the UK's national carrier due to its clear London-focus. Mr Stringer’s comments followed BA discontinuing its international flights to New York and many other international destinations.
The only services BA now offers from any regional airport in the UK are domestic services to London's Gatwick Airport and Heathrow Airport. BA bosses have attributed this shift in services to falling passenger numbers and increased competition on all routes from rival airlines.
