Best way to get back to Madrid

Time of past OR future Camino
February 15, 2015 - March 15, 2015
Hello all, I'm planning on walking a part of the camino from February 15- March 15 of 2015! A few days from now! My question and only real concern is on how to get back to Madrid for my flight home. Any tips? Which would be better, train or bus? I don't plan on finishing the entire thing since I could only get so much time off of work. But I will come back at some point to finish from where I left off.

Also how easy or difficult is it to travel between major cities of the need arrives?

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

The train is almost always more comfortable than the bus. You can catch trains in Pamplona, Logrono, Burgos, Sahagun, Leon, Ponferrada, and Sarria (and some other places as well). Buses are available in many of the smaller towns.

Have fun!

It all depends on where you end. Falcon269 quoted places with direct trains to Madrid (we should add Astorga to the list). There are other places, like FrĂłmista or El Burgo Ranero, where you could take a train too but in order to go to Madrid you would need to change trains in Palencia or Valladolid. I too prefer train over bus but that's just a personal preference and depending on where you end a bus might be an option to consider (e.g.: there are direct buses from Villafranca del Bierzo to Madrid while there's no train service to Villafranca del Bierzo meaning you should go -by bus- from Villafranca del Bierzo to Ponferrada to take a train from Ponferrada to Madrid what could be more hassle).

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
