Camino del Norte May 2023 by bike
Hello bike people of the Camino!

My partner and I just finished biking the Camino del Norte from Bilbao to Santiago (it was incredible, even with some of the rainy days!).

I want to give a recommendation for future bicigrinos. If you are thinking of renting a bike to do any of the Caminos, you have to look at Bicips: https://bicips.com/

The bikes were assembled and ready to pick up at a bike shop in Bilbao where we started. When we finished the Camino they were easily picked up in Santiago. We also met up with the owners along the Norte and they are such wonderful people!

They rent Trek mountain bikes and also have E-bikes available. Everything is included (waterproof ortlieb bags, tools, spare tubes, locks, helmets, chain lube, hand pumps, water bottles, pilgrims credential, specific pedals on request, etc.). The bikes performed perfectly on the national highways and more mountainous parts of the Camino.

Over our three+ weeks of biking, we had absolutely no issues with the bikes or the gear- they are new and very well maintained. If we did have any issues, the Bicips team would have been quick to support us with anything. The price was very reasonable for the quality of the bikes and all that was offered and included.

The owners are cyclists and have completed caminos by bike. They know the Norte and other areas very well. I can’t recommend them enough!

Do you know if they have an English language website? Do they rent in Porto? Thanks.

Hi Magfri,

They don’t have an English language website but you can use the translate feature on your browser if you use google chrome or safari and it will translate the page you’re on from Spanish to English. They will arrange to have the bikes available at your starting location, so yes I believe they can drop the bikes off in Porto for the Camino Portugués. They also have stage guides on their website, including one for the portugués. Let me know if I can help in any other way. Buen camino!
