Bilbao to Camino Frances

Hi all, I'm new here, 1st post and any help or advise is greatly appreciated.

My wife and I are planning to start our walk in Bilbao and wondering if there is a good way to walk from Bilbao and join the Camino Frances trail? We would prefer to start off with 10km +/- days if possible. Also, does anyone have a good source of a large scale map of Northern Spain.

Thanks.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Hi Tom,

Welcome to the Forum!

You will find so much here to help you plan your future Camino. Past pilgrims love to share their advice and experiences. Such sharing is a large part of the Camino spirit; besides being informative for future pilgrims it help keeps memories current for experienced pilgrims as we recall our journeys anew.

One way you might consider for walking from Bilboa to the Camino Frances is to walk south from Bilboa as far as Vitoria-Gasteiz plotting your own route using Google maps. At Vitoria-Gasteiz you could then pick up the Via de Bayonna and continue on it to Burgos where you would join the Camino Frances. For more on the Via de Bayonna see this Mundicamino link as well as further discussions in the Forum topic Camino Vasco del Interior. Of course for the Camino Frances see the comprehensive discussion in that Forum topic .

Happy planning and Buen Camino to you both,

Margaret Meredith
