Botafumiero May 2020?

We will be doing the Camino starting from Sarria the last week of May. Is it likely that they will swing the botafumiero during the daily Pilgrims' Mass at that time?

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Due to restoration works the Botafumeiro will not be operated. I am pretty sure the works will not be finished by May 2020. They will be working hard to get everything done by 2021, the next Holy Year.

Just walked the Frances and arrived in Santiago in December. It would take a Hanukkah Miracle for the Cathedral to be ready anytime this year.

No. At that time because the interminable obras will still be ongoing.

At other times, scheduled or not, the bota will be swung for a suitable payment in advance. In early 2009 €500 from a Russian tour group had it swinging.

I've heard restoration will not be completed until at least Nov. 2020, so Cathedral will not be open for Mass, so no Botafumeiro.

The phrase " the bota will be swung for a suitable payment in advance" sounds really bad.

Apologies if this has been shared elsewhere (I hadn't seen it before). Not sure of the current use and sighting of the botefumeiro as the Cathedral undergoes work. I found the witnessing of this one of the most emotional parts of my Camino. I hope it brings back memories, give a little bit of context, and provides some background to the beauty of the spectable.
