Bridge as you enter Santiago de Compostela on the Sanabres

Via Francigena (planned, 2023)
A few years ago as we walked into Santiago de Compostela on the Via Sanabres, we saw a bridge adorned with memorabilia, which may have been put there by pilgrims as mementos of their hike, or possible in memory of loved ones. Does anyone know the story of this informal site, and whether it is still there?

It is in memory of those who died in a train crash, many of them pilgrims who were on their way to Santiago to celebrate St. James Day. I was sleeping at the Monesterio de Oseira that day and a special mass was given in their honor.

When on my way to Santiago I saw many flowers on the bridge and once again another time I walked the Sanabrés.

The bridge has been a memorial to the many people who died in the horrible train crash as @LTfit posted above. Many pilgrims were on the train and were lost.

The actual train wreck occurred near the bridge.

Terrible accident, 80 died, 144 injured on the eve of saint James day, still investigating circumstances, why the train took the curve at such high speed. 2014 was the year

The accident happened on the 24th of July 2013. I walked the Sanabrés in 2016 and saw all the mementos left on the bridge, as well as a memorial with the accident information. I felt so sad to be standing there and being aware of such tragedy.
