Frances SJPDP to SDC May & June 2017
I have volunteered to work in the Albergue in Ponferrada the first half of June. I will fly from Atlanta to Madrid and hopefully catch a bus to Ponferrada. I have tried for about 2 hours to find a bus or train and keep hitting a wall. Not sure what is wrong but I am about to give up and wait until I get there to make firm plans. Any suggestions?

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
My guess is you will get many responses that you are a few days early, normally reservations are only available 60 days in advance.

Just search the ALSA website for your specific travel date. But not yet ALSA aren’t publishing times beyond end of April yet. For general indication try your relative day in April

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Thank you. That could be my problem. I will try again in a few days.

Great to hear you will be volunteering!

The bus station in Ponferrada is very nice, as bus stations go. But it is located at the north end of the modern city, nowhere near the casco viejo and, I suspect, nowhere near the Ponferrrada albergues. Anticipate a bit of a walk.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

My plan is to catch a taxi to El Acebo and walk downhill to Ponferrada the day before I start my service. I missed that stage in 2017 because of a swollen ankle and it has bothered me since.

We will meeting one of our group in Ponferrada in June, they will be coming from Madrid, same situation. Nice to learn of the timing of the schedules posted. I noticed this in trying to reserve some albergues in June, they don't seem to have the "dates" open yet.

Maybe try getting to Monte de Lemos by train and bus from there. I think there are other possibilities by train that get you close.
