Hola,

Has anyone got advice re. Route and accommodation for this section of the Via de la Plata?

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Look for the thread: Don't hate me... Itinerary review for Caceres to SDC opened by user Damien Reynolds to get some info about accommodations (and route). You might use the search feature (on the upper right corner of the web) to find it.

In May this year the albergue at Embalse Alcantara was closed, this made the section between Cacares - Canaveral a little difficult. Next year ???
In the event there was accomodation at Alcantara Pesca 927 090 510. (located just at the junction of the main road and the track down to the albergue) I opted to put in a short day Cacares -Casar de Cacares 12 kms, then next day Casar - Canaveral 36 kms.
Have you checked.....Mundicamino and Eroski Camino for Vdlp guides?
Regards.
George

I don't suppose our choice of accommodation coincides @musicman, but you could always take a look at my blog to see where the 'other half ' stays on camino. http://www.magwood.me.

Thanks to everyone.
I have the sites referred to,already.

The private albergue at the Embalse de Alcantar was closed in May but open in June this year. They are terrible at answering their phone at times so assume you may need to walk to Canaveral and plan accordingly.

One reason for me choosing the VDLP is to avoid the constant stress of the bed race on the busier routes. Alas I haven’t escaped it. Literally every bed (that I’m able to contact) is full from...
I think I’m on day 12, so not quite two weeks in. Thus far the VDLP is definitely a different animal than the CF. And I have to say, I’m struggling to enjoy it as much as the CF last year. I...
