Out the door early knowing today's long walk would be hot and hilly.
By the time I got out of Camaiore the sun was already above the surrounding mountains and starting to get hot.
The first 5 miles were gradual uphill then mile 6 was straight uphill.
Once I crested the tops of two climbs I met 6 Australian hikers going in the opposite direction to Canterbury.
Later in the afternoon I finally made it to the ancient walled city of Lucca, where I will enjoy a much needed and earned scheduled rest day.

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
@Tazzie - I thought about it, but decided not to because of a potential transportation strike today and didn't want to be caught several hundred miles away sleeping on the floor of a train station

Did Lucca to Rome a few weeks ago. Interested to know how you find this 3 week section compared to the rest.
Buen caminno

I loved the beautiful city of Lucca. My standout memories include a tour of the Clock Tower with gorgeous views of the city below, walking the walls, and walking along the beautiful ancient Aquaduct.
