Camino dog tags - It's a necklace, a keychain, put it on your boot, your walking stick, etc.

(Note- this is being re-posted in this category at Ivar's request.)

These military-style "dog tags" are fun little items that can be used in lots of ways. If you have been on the Camino, it can be a reminder of your journey. If you are preparing for the Camino, it can be a reminder to keep training! They are small, lightweight, and easy to carry.

There are so many things you can do with these simple, lightweight dog tags.

  • Wear it as a necklace.
  • Make earrings out of them....

I like most of the suggestions, just maybe not the Cruz de Ferro...I'd prefer to see less man-made items piled up there, not more.:)

In 2014 I left the REAL dogs tags I wore in combat in Viet Nam, cambodia, and Laos on the Cross of Iron. What better place? It is a shrine that the Roman army used to honor the God Mercury afterall. They were gone in August 2016!

That is awesome... You are right, it is as good a place as any!

My last trip to the Cruz de Ferro was pretty somber. My nephew was killed in the line of duty a couple of days before. I carried a big rock up from Foncebadon (heavy as heck!), and wrote a memorial for him on it. I also left behind a little Lego guy (like the one in my photo), which is what I had planned to leave before I received news of my nephew's death. I hung around and talked to a few people, and decided to snap a picture of my Lego guy among the rocks before I left. Someone had already snatched it! LOL If only they knew the "bad juju" it symbolised... LOL
