Camino Frances - April 2013

Time of past OR future Camino
(2013)
Hi!

I am doing the camino in April this year about the second week. I will be joined by a couple of other people at some point along the camino. I am a little concerned about the weather. I hope to start at SJPP depending on how much time I get for vacation, will know by March 17. Do most people make it into Roncesvalles by the end of the day? Barring unforeseen circumstances of course.
I am looking forward to a wonderful journey!

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Hi Maria,

The weather will most likely be fine by that point of spring to cross the Pyrenees. However, poor weather and even snow is still possible. Heed the advice of the pilgrim office when you arrive, as there is an alternate safer route to walk in case of treacherous conditions.

Most people walk to Roncesvalles in one stage just fine. However, you can choose to break it up by reserving a bed in the albergue in Orisson, which is about 8 km into the trek to Roncesvalles. I've heard only good things about it. However, if weather is poor and you are advised to take the alternate route, staying in Orisson would not be possible.

Whatever you choose to do, you'll manage just fine! Buen camino.

By the way, in 2011 I started third week of April and only got about 3 days of rain in total from SJPP to Santiago! Fingers crossed for similar circumstances for your camino. :)
