Camino in early June 2006 (Leon-Santiago)- to Fisterra

Hello!

I am Ann, 33 years old , originally from the Philippines and have been residing in the UK for a few years now...Glad to have found your website...This site has been very helpful in planning my camino...

I am planning to make Leon as a starting point, walk to Santiago and spend 2 days there, then walk again to Fisterra...I only have 18 days, will this be enough to do this?

I read from some of the posts here that from London Stansted you can fly to Asturias or Valladolid for easy access to Leon, which is better?

Thank you very much!

Ann :)

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Valladolid or Asturias

The airport at Valladolid is just north of town and about 70 miles from Leon. The Oviedo (Asturias) airport is nowhere near town and not far from Aviles about 100 miles from Leon.

There is a bus service (ALSA) from Valladolid airport that runs about every 2-3 hours and the journey is about 2 hours.

Valladolid airport is a small new airport with a decent cafe if your wait for the bus is long.

Buen Camino

Hi Ann,

Another possibility is to take a bus to Valladolid bus-station which is only a 10 minute-walk to the train-station. I call that a short warm-up for the next days
Cheap ticket for the blue bus( just outside/before the exit of the airport) can be bought inside at the Ryanair-checkpoint. I guess it is max 20/30. minutes to Valladolid-Centre.

From the train-station you can take the train to Leon at regular times: take a look at http://horarios.renfe.es/hir/ingles.html: it's about 2 hrs train-ride.

IMO: 18 days for appr. 320 km can be done easily without forgetting that you have to enjoy every step you make.

Buen Camino!
