Camino Ingles on August 28th: Ferrol to Santiago+Finisterre?

Hello all! :D

My name's Albert and I'm hailing from the United States. But currently I'm studying at Cambridge University, King's College. I'm going to do the Camino Ingles from Ferrol on the 28th of August. I'll be flying into Santiago on the 27th, and bussing up to Ferrol. I've been advised to spend some time in A Coruna. I'm wondering if I can walk all the way to Finisterre, and return to Santiago by September 4th. is that a little too ambitious?

Any others going to be walking around the same time?

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hi, Albert,

My husband and I hope to be on the Camino Ingles around the same time as you. I haven't done it before, so I can't speak from personal knowledge, but everything I've seen puts it at 5 days. But dividing 120 by four would give you four 30 km days, so depending on where accommodation is, you could conceivably get there in four. I don't know anyone who has walked Santiago-Fisterre in less than three days, though I'm sure there are some power walkers out there who can survive 45 km days.

So, if you do the calculations, you've got at least 7 walking days. If you start on the 28th, that will put you in Finisterre on the 3rd. Depending on flight times and the like, it seems do-able but maybe a bit rushed. The first time I walked to Finisterre, I was unable to spend the night there because of timing problems. So I walked in, didn't even have time to get to the lighthouse, and got on the bus heading back to Santiago soon after. Kind of crazy, but it was the only way I could do it.

Keep an eye out for two grey haired walkers with two walking sticks each! We will start walking on the 27th if all goes according to plan, so you may well pass us.

Hi Albert,

This was one ROLF's (one of our Forum Member's) posts sometime last year: You can find more of his daily schedules if you look in the Camino Ingles posts on this forum.

Sunday - Ferrol to Pontedeume
Monday - Pontedeume to Betanzos
Tuesday - Betanzos to Hospital de Bruma
Wednesday - Hospital de Bruma to Sigueiro
Thursday - Sigueiro to Santiago de Compostela
Friday - whole day in Santiago or bus to Fisterra
Saturday - Santiago to Fisterra by bus or whole day in Fisterra
Sunday - Bus from Fisterra to La Coruna or Santiago airport

Happy planning!

Thanks for your informative replies Laurie and sillydoll.

I think I'll take my time on the Camino Ingles and see how the first day goes. I realize that I don't really need to rush as I can just take a bus to Finisterre. I'm hoping to stop at certain points during the journey to write in my travel journal as random things tend to inspire me to compose. Now back to planning!
