Camino Portugues in May

Time of past OR future Camino
Frances, Jul-Aug 05, Frances, Jul-Aug 06, Portugues, Oct 2010
I'm considering walking from Tui to SdC sometime in May. It's only around 120 km - are there enough refugios along the Camino to be able to walk it in around 5 days?

I'm hoping it won't be as busy as the Camino Frances, so I won't have to stop at lunchtime in order to secure a bed.

Also is it possible to obtain the credencial in Tui?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
I doubt you can obtain a credential in Tui - there was an office on the border where I thought I could get a stamp, but it was closed. When I asked someone what time they opened, as it looked rather abandoned. They just laughed at me and said "maybe after lunch?" It was 10am.

How are you getting to Tui? If you pass through Porto, as it's a larger town, you might be able to obtain one at their cathedral/tourist office.

http://www.csj.org.uk/how-to-get-a-credencial.htm indicates that you need to be a member to get a credencial from them. It would be worth it, in my opinion...but if you could probably also get on from the American Pilgrim association for free http://www.americanpilgrims.com/.

Bom Caminho!

The Xunta de Galicia has made sure that the best albergues are located in Galicia. In my experience, the Camino Portugues has the cream of the crop in albergues.

May is a great great time to walk this Camino.

I beleive you can walk it in 5 days, just don't stop too long to buy many post cards (do people still send them?)

It's not as as busy as the Camino Frances, you won't have to stop at lunchtime in order to secure anything.

You can get the Credencial at the Tui Cathedral.

Hi,
To start the Camino you must get your Credential stamped. On the first morning in say, Tui, where do you go to get a stamp to indicate you are starting there? I suppose you should not start till you get a stamp ??
Many Thanks
JP
