Camino Primitivo during second and third week of October. Boots or Trail Runners for Primitivo?
Also is this route going to be completely desolate in October? I would want to see some pilgrims during the day and at end in Albergues, should I choose another route then?

Sorry I’ve been having hard time choosing the route. Thank you for your time.

The Camino is rarely desolate. Even in October you will find people on Primitivo, maybe even me this year depending on how fast I motor through the Frances stages of my Camino this year. I wouldn't worry about being the only person on that route, it's unlikely. Now if you were walking Viejo or one of the obscure routes from the Med side, then maybe. But Primitivo is one of the more walked routes, but I don't think it's as popular as the Frances, Norte and VdlP.

As to boots or trail runners, it's down to personal choice. Whatever you are comfortable in. I have walked in both. First Camino I used Decathlon Arpenaz 500 walking shoes and Asics Gel Kanaku trail runners. Second Camino Karrimor Bodmin 4 walking shoes and Decathlon NH100 Walking Sandals. It really is down to what you like walking in.

HI @paulanuran I've walked the Primitivo twice - in 2014 starting 7 October and in 2019 starting 29 September. It was a great time to walk - not at all desolate. We saw pilgrims during the day and at the albergues in the evening.

Regarding the boots vs shoes question - I can't offer a comparison as I've never worn boots. I don't think they are necessary on the Primitivo.

Enjoy.

Thanks for your comment. Reassures me. I love hills and mountains so the scenery around Primitivo resonates with me
