Camino Sanabres - blankets provided in albergues?

We started the Via de la Plata and Camino Sanabres in Seville on April 10, the day after Easter. Currently in Valdesalor, will be in Salamanca in a few days. A beautiful part of the world!

So far, all the albergues in Andalusia and Extremadura have provided blankets for the somewhat chilly nights. We are hearing sporatic (and not completely reliable) reports that on the Sanabres, the albergues are not providing blankets at all because the Junta of Galicia is still forbidding blankets to prevent the spread of Covid. Is this true? Are albergues on the Sanabres providing blankets? If not, I'll neet to get a lightweight sleeping bag in Samamanca or Zamora.

Hi James, we are on the Sanabres and currently in Asturianos. The only albergue that we have come across since Fuenterroble that doesn’t provide blankets is the Municipal in Zamora. Not sure from here though. There are very few people in the albergues at the moment so we have been able to have 2 blankets each.

I walked from Salamanca in 2019 (so pre Covid). From memory private albergues had blankets and sheets whereas most municipals had (usually disposable) sheets only. In particular i remember opting to treat myself to a casa rural in Lubian as i knew in advance from Gronze that the albergue didn't have blankets. I figured correctly that it would be a bit cool there in the mountains.

Last year in Autumn I had a lightweight sleeping bag and silk sleep sack but I can recall only a few places without blankets. Perhaps you can avoid those. I have the feeling the municipals in Galicia had blankets. Otherwise I would recall being a bit colder and more uncomfortable in November. But now I remember they all had heating on in the afternoon and early part of the evening. Mmmmm. I do remember sleeping with blankets most of the time with the option of adding my sleeping bag as a quilt if it was really cold.
Perhaps others will have more up to date info.
