We have reservations to fly from Santiago to Madrid on Monday, November 2 via Ryanair and transfer to a flight to the United States on KLM. We arrive in Madrid at 9:30 AM and our KLM flight is at 10:30 AM. When we originally booked our flight the KLM flight was at 11:10 but since they have moved the flight up we are not sure we will be able to clear customs in time to make the 10:30 flight. Has anyone flown Ryanair into Madrid to connect with a U.S. flight? How is it getting through Customs and how far is it to the International terminals ? Should we rebook the Ryan air flight for the night before? There is an 10:00 PM flight. Thank you so much for all of your help. We are so excited to be starting this journey next week!

KlM fly out of Terminal 2 ......as far as I am aware

I would not chance it myself....sometimes the inbound Ryanair flight to Santiago is delayed (not very often)for onward travel to Madrid
There has been for a very long time announcements for those travelling to the states to allow extra time for security....at Madrid airport

I would book for the night before and wait in the airport

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

There is a flight night before leaving Santiago 22:05 pm Landing Madrid 23:20 am. perfect ..T4 is good for sleeping on the floor opposite the police post/room upstairs on the ledges by the glass panels no problem there.. Mcdonalds open all night for Tea/coffee near by, done this many times

If it helps you in making a decision, check with you travel insurer to find out if they will cover you for a missed flight where the different legs are not on the same ticket. It would surprise me if they would cover the circumstances you describe. If I am correct, you would be out-of-pocket for any and all expenses associated with the missed flight.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I agree with everyone here that this is more likely to go wrong than right.

Missing from your calculation is the fact that the arrival and departure are usually based on landing (not passenger deplane) and "wheels up" not doors closed.

I am not sure about KLM's door closing policy but many are about 15 min before scheduled departure. They are often late but I would not want count on that.

Hi, as already stated I also think one hour is not enough.
Wish you well with your up coming journey and a Buen Camino, Peter.

Most definitely rebook for the following day. It's easy to go to Madrid (5 Euros on the bus) from the airport, stay overnight at a central, inexpensive place, and head back to the airport next day -- book your return pick up while you are at the airport with Ryan. We've done the same thing but when SpanAir was the commuter plane. (Hostel Santa Cruz :)

Thanks everyone for your wonderful advice. I guess I knew that it was too tight to be realistic but I just needed some second opinions!!
