Cantabria will now regulate pilgrim albergues

This has always been a confusing topic for me, but my understanding had been that in most/all regions, the donativo albergue was exempt from the regulations that apply to albergues turísticos (which is what most private albergues are classified as, I think).

This article describes a change in that situation, at least in Cantabria. It looks like a new decree will expand the scope of albergue regulation in Cantabria to include donativos, as well as any other albergue that had been billed as “exclusively for pilgrims.” Sounds like there will now be just one generic category of albergues. I know this has been batted around before, and I think the consequences could be significant. Any other news on this development would be appreciated.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
As I read it, this will destroy the most kind albergues on the Camino; the unselfish ones. Hard to believe. Will this spread out all over, outside Cantabria?

My Spanish is terrible. Looks like I’m going to be obliged to pop €20 in the box whenever there’s no one looking 😉

Back when, oh way back when, the chairman of the parish council asked the headmistress of my primary school “who is paying for him?” She answered “all of us”. That’s the way it works. If you find yourself in Cantabria dig deep. Pay your €2 for your bed and leave whatever else you can (for toilet roll hire, smiles, the smell of pilgrim socks) - no need to break the rules, just bend them till they break themselves

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc

Free room and board with the 20€ of a souvenir pencil! Or better yet, the 20€ souvenir brochure since iva is 4% on books.
