Hi Everyone,

We wanted to stay at Casa Fernanda in October, but she is booked the day we wanted to stay there. We were so looking forward to being able to stay there too. I looked at the guide books and I see maybe two options that are not too far from Casa Fernanda.

Has anyone stayed at Estabulo de Valinhas or Casa Sagres? Also, would like to know if they provide dinner or is there somewhere to eat. Other options you might know of?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jackie,
why don’t you try and arrange your stages so as to stay at Fernanda‘s a day before or after your planned date? May be she has space on those days.

Um bom caminho

When we stayed there in September 2018 we booked the day before. Nine or ten pilgrims arrived when Fernanda's was full she managed to spread them around to friends in the village! Everyone dined together but dispersed to various places to sleep! The dinner was delicious!

I stayed here in 2018 and liked it very much. It's a beautiful and relaxing place with lovely gardens, located right on the Camino.

I did hear local dogs barking at night so recommend ear plugs. Probably applies to any of these country villages.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc

That is awesome!!

When I walked the Portuguese in 2019 my itinerary didn't mesh well with staying at Fernanda's. A forum friend told me I had to at least stop in to say hello to her, so we did. She was so friendly and enthusiastic, and invited us in for tea and a snack, but I had a cold, so unfortunately had to decline. I can see why so many forum members speak so highly of her spirit of hospitality.
