Cell phone - I'm sure it's been asked a million times before

Walking in mid September.

My apologies but I have a few questions about cell phones that I'm sure are very repetetive but I cant seem to find all of the information. I would like to bring my phone to use mainly as a camera, an MP3 player. I may(possibly) also use it to send short facebook or travel blog updates, and for emergency calls only. So my questions are:

Are outlets easy to find along the way to charge my phone?

Is there one type of charger / converter that is better than others?

I'm not very savy at electronics so I'm not sure if I need to change my plan to accomodate internet usage or will it work off of wireless...any ideas?

Thanks for your insight. I'm so excited!

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hi Carolann, just bring a convertor from your system to the French/Spanish system. They are freely available at airports etc. There is wifi in nearly all the albergues along the way so email, skype etc is possible. Try not to use packet data as its very expensive when you are roaming, use wifi instead. Bring a plastic bag/pouch for the phone in case of heavy rain. I was never stuck for a socket to charge the phone, I also brought a spare battery just in case.

Buen Camino. Enjoy. :)

You also can use the "Tango Video call"application. You just need wifi and the phone doesn't need to be connected to any phone line. It is free and you can see each other in a smart phone.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Did you use the Forum's search facility? (top of the home page)
"Using a cellphone" gives numerous answers to questions, particularly to those from non-European users. (unblocked 'phones, SIM-cards, chargers, plugs, etc.)
