the Camino will provide what you need
Time of past OR future Camino
CF (SJPdP-Burgos) may 2013
CPortugues (Porto-SdC-Finisterre) april 2014
CAragones (Pau-Somport-Logrono) may 2015
CdNorte (Irun-Santander) may 2016
CF (Burgos-SdC) 2017?
After several Camino sections decided, from the 'shortlist/wishlist' of open ends, for the Leon-SdC 2 wks.
Considerations: less pilgrims, limited/restriced capacity of beds, enough facilities on the route.
All in favour for the CF instead of the other routes this year.
Booked for the first 3 days (weekend) and hope to end up with no prebooking, except for SdC.

Does any have experience with shipping the walking sticks home? as only handluggage booked from SdC. Advice?
Bon Camino !

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
You must check your walking sticks in the Santiago airport. So that means either putting them in your backpack and checking your backpack or going somewhere where you can buy a tube or small box and put your sticks in and check that. I did that once because I never check my backpack. It is way too much of a hassle and I am petrified if the airline loses my luggage. Also I have been told by a few different people (not pilgrims) that when they checked their backpack there were things missing when they got home. Now I just buy some cheap poles when I arrive and leave them at the last albergue I stay at. It is far easier for me.
I think my information is up to date.

Myself and my best half did Leon to SdC in June/July 2018. My wife got her not too expensive hiking poles in a Leon sports store and I got a broome stick, metal tip and tape from a hardware shop and converted it into a staff. My wife gave her poles to a lady in SdC who with her daughter were heading to Pamplona to commence their camino. I left mine amongst the 'gum' trees not far past the airport on the final leg into SdC. I have a good idea where it was left, out of sight, and plan to check it out when we do SJPdP-SdC in 2022? 'Hopefully.

Dennis White,
Great story! Hopefully you will indeed be back in 2022 and will spot your hidden pole.
Stay safe and Carpe diem.
