I’m walking the coastal route of the Portuguese Camino in May, plus Finisterre - is it necessary to take sleeping bags or, like in France, are blankets provided in albergues? Any advice gratefully received. Helen

No to sleeping bag. Take a liner or cover quilt, whichever is lighter. Don't know about blankets. Others may know. Assume no blankets and plan accordingly.

Hope this helps.

not all the albergues have blankets, especially the municipal ones. If you are planning to stay in the private ones then you may not need a liner as they provide the blankets and bed linnens. I mostly stayed in the municipal ones on many Caminos and I found some old building could be cold even in late spring, especially if it's raining, so I used my light sleeping bag a lot. Although there were some people who managed with only a liner in late Apr but I tend to get cold easily and plan accordingly. Bom Caminho! :)
