Luggage Transfer Options on the Camino Frances

Hi all. Sorry bit confused as to who does what in France then Spain.

Does Express Bourricot transfer luggage daily along the entire Camino Frances or only SJPP to Roncelles? I know they transport and store excess case from SJPP to Santiago but they quoted a cost of 70 euro. Is this more expensive than others?

Do Corres & Jacobtran transport luggage only from Roncelles to Santiago, or from SJPP as well, and which are the better value.

Express Bourricot does cross border transport plus a bus over to Roncelles if it is needed.

Correos and Jacotrans are Spanish and only operate in Spain i.e. from Roncelles. Which to use is personal as they are both capable. But my preference is for Correos as my Spanish is poor and can use their online system / app.

As an aside, someone stated the heaviest burden you carry on a Camino is the one inside you. Neither can help with that but by the end of the Camino, hopefully the burden will be much less.

We used Correos from Roncesvalles to Santiago and at that time 2019 they were the most reasonably priced and they never missed a beat. Our luggage was always at our accommodation before we were.

In April last year I sent my suitcase to Ivar’s luggage storage through Correos at their main post office in Seville. The cost was €19. Ivar emailed to let me know it had arrived in Santiago de Compostela a few days after it was sent. The suitcase was stored for six weeks and cost €25.

Ivar does say that posting anything you need stored with him is much better done in Spain, not another European country, because of possible Customs hassles etc.



The whole process was really easy and efficient - I can highly recommend it.

For sending a suitcase directly from SJPdP to Santiago I highly recommend using Express Bourricot.

You simply go to their office, pay the fee and they will give you a tag to put on your luggage. In the morning when you leave for the Camino leave your bag in the lobby of your accommodation and they will pick it up. When you arrive it is waiting for you at the Loop Inn hotel, which has 24 hour reception so you can pick it up at your convenience. Additionally Loop Inn will give you a 15% discount on a room if you choose to stay there.

It is. I have used them twice, and I've actually stayed at the hotel in Santiago where the luggage is stored a couple of times (used to be Hostal Lasalle, now Loop Inn) It was especially convenient when I stayed there a couple of nights before continuing on to Finisterre. I was able to reunite with my "tourist" clothes and wear something different, then they stored my suitcase again while I walked to the coast.

@trecile I am also thinking of continuing the 4 days to the coast after a short stay in Santiago. Im guessing works the same re luggage & accomm stops?

I haven't used daily pack transfer before, but yes, there are a number of companies including Jacotrans and Correos that provide daily transport of bags between Santiago and Finisterre/Muxía.
