Hi Jack. Some gites do but many don’t. It’s safer to assume you’ll need to pay in cash.

Definitely more common for gites to not take credit cards, but there are some. Note that while they might take Visa, they much more rarely accept AmEx.

We walked le Chemin de Arles from Pau south in October. Most gites cash only. Bon Chemin.

We just got off the Chemin in October. Many more than I thought accepted credit cards and we used it when we could but you should be prepared for some not to. Miam Dodo guide is probably the most up to date on that.
