Espiritual Reversed

I just walked the Camino Frances and have a few weeks left. I want to go on and walk the Camino Portugues in reverse. A lot of people told me about the espiritual, but it seems quite complicated in reverse. Has anyone done this yet, or has some tips?

Yes, I’ve done it in reverse, but I’d already walked it previously in the proper direction, so I had a good idea where I was going. However, it’s not marked in the reverse direction, so it’s not obvious which path to take. I got lost a few times, although I realized quite quickly that I’d gone wrong. You should be fine with an app that has the route to follow. I don’t use them myself.

Download the app Mapy.cz. You can easily follow the VE in reverse and always see you position as you walk. Just open the app and as you enlarge the map you’ll find the route in blue between Vilanova de Arouza and Pontevedra.

The wise pilgrim app - when you download maps shows you where you are. There is a few places where it could be tricky but the signage is good the regular way. You will also see some pilgrims! I met a few folks walking “back” to Porto on the coastal Portuguese. The pinch point of Armenteira will be the same so you may wish to consider in advance where you might stay. Sounds wonderful!
