PR The exhibition "In light of Calixtino. The codex of Santiago ', which opened yesterday in the Archives of Asturias, is the result of a celebration. When the July 5, 2012 Police recovered the Codex Calixtino, won just a year before in the cathedral of Santiago, all breathed easier. It is an educational exhibition, conceived as traveling, which is synthesized by a series of art pieces, virtual images and photographs, the story of the way from the twelfth century to the present.
There are two star pieces as Singul Francisco: a facsimile of the Codex and virtual Calixtino, presented for the first time. In Asturias takes on a special meaning display a replica of the Cross of the pilgrimage, much like the Cross of the Angels, the original was made in Oviedo and King Alfonso III gave to the cathedral of Santiago during his pilgrimage , made in the company of Queen Jimena. The original piece was stolen in 1906.
Stresses also a capital of the fourteenth century, a book with engravings of the sixteenth century and a string of silver and jet. In the section of the images, also excel virtual recreations of the main altar and the north portal of the Cathedral of Santiago.
The Galician artist Francisco Leiro painting recreates the five books of the Codex Calixtino. The exhibition is completed with text and photos from the road today.
"The Codex Calixtino is a promotional tool of the first order, and this exhibition is a journey through time of the pilgrimage," said José Paz Gestoso, managing director of the Corporation Xacobeo Plan Management, organizer of the exhibition.
The event was also the director of the archive, Conchita Paredes attended Heritage regional director, Adolfo Asensio, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Alejandro Calvo, and the Minister of Culture, Ana Gonzalez, among others. "The Calixtino is fundamental to explain ourselves," said the Minister.
