I will go by bus back to Santiago, then take flight to Barcelona or Madrid, and continue by other flight to CDG or ORY ... see Ryanair (be careful with dimension of hand baggage and print boarding pass), Vueling, ... in August u should do it under 100 - 120 euros ..

Would appreciate any suggestions on best mode of transport from Finisterre - Bayonne, where we will take the TGV back to CDG. with thanks - verna and ed

The route would be bus from Finisterre to Santiago. A bus stop in Finisterre is next to the municipal albergue. There is a RENFE train which goes everyday from Santiago to Irun/Hendaye which is the Spanish/French border. This leaves Santiago about 9 am and arrives at the border about 9 pm. Check here for the time. http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/ In Hendaye you can get the train to nearby Bayonne or, of course, a TGV direct from Hendaye to Paris. Check here for the times. http://www.voyages-sncf.com/

The RENFE train needs a reservation. It is easily booked directly at the rr station in Santiago. As long as you are NOT traveling at a peak time such as a holiday you should have no trouble booking this train two or three days before you wish to travel. The TGV to Paris also needs a reservation; however you can usually get a reservation and a ticket on the spot.

Buen Camino,
