First Camino - Sarria to Santiago in January 2016

Sarria to Santiago - January 2016
Hello,

I’m 30 year female from England,

I will be walking the last 100km solo at the end of January next year. Not too bothered about the weather/cold, at it looks to be the same as England at that time of year; wet and cold, my only worry would be if there is heavy snowfall that covers the route markers.

I’m glad I came across this forum, and will be gleaning over it in the months to come.

Just one question, I was interested in knowing, if you complete the whole Camino in stages, say over the course of 6 to 12 months, coming and going back to Spain as and when you can (a week or so at a time) , when you reach Santiago, would you still receive the Compostela if you have a fully stamped Pilgrim Credential even if it has been stamped at different points during the year? Hope this makes sense!

Welcome Daniel, you can walk the camino in as many stages as you like so as you collect two stamps per day for the last 100km. I haven't walked in winter but others have and will advise on the weather. It should not be a problem IMO.
Happy planning and Buen Camino.

For advice and tips re walking in winter be sure to read this earlier Forum thread and this one.
Do be aware that many spots along the camino are closed from late October until late March. Thus private albergues and hotels might be shut. However on your route west from Saria albergues run by the Galician Xunta generally are open and are a good value at 6 euros per night including heat.

Happy planning and Buen camino!
