First time on the Camino track

Time of past OR future Camino
Porto
Hi

My husband and I are in Portugal in August and I’m keen to do a 5 or 7 day leg of the Camino track, as a taster for future walks. We’re hoping to end in Porto and unsure where to leave from. Also, if we are best to have a tour with Orbis Ways, who can book our accomodation and transport our bags.

Any tips or recommendations welcome,

Cheers,

Deanna

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Starting in Coimbra, a lovely town, would get you to Porto in 6 days. You can find information on route, accommodations etc here: https://www.gronze.com/camino-portugues The site is in simple Spanish but a browser such as Chrome will translate if needed.

Most Pilgrims walk without the aid of a tour company but if you need the comfort and/or help in organizing there are plenty of companies that will be glad of the trade.

I also recommend having a look at Gronze.
Personally, although Coimbra is indeed a lovely town, the road into Porto from there is not the greatest stretch of camino and may not inspire you to undertake further walks. I recommend going further back to Tomar (or possibly Golega if you like horses/stables etc) and walking to Coimbra before travelling on to Porto. It's just a much more pleasing section!

Love Coimbra. One of my favorite places on any Camino.

Thanks for your suggestions. My friend also suggested:

The best by far has been the Ourense - Santago (or the other way around). Not so many crowds, nice accommodation and scenically very pretty. It took us 6 pleasant days. You can catch a train direct from Santiago to Ourense. (And there's thermal springs in Ourense too!). The walk to the coast (Finisterre) is also nice but much shorter.

I’ve tried to review trains but none came up on google. Is it easy to catch a train between towns? We’ll be arriving from Madrid and finish in Porto.

New user here. Hello to you all. New to the forum but not to the Camino. I was told about this Forum whilst I walking the lovely scenic 'Camino Norte'. I'm planning walking another in June.
