A lot of supermarkets in Spain offer pre-cooked rice for microwave use, but it is eatable even without the heat or you can just quickly heat it over a gas bomb... It lasts for days.... A

Once on the West Coast Trail our designated cook of the evening didn't hike up the tidal river far enough to get fresh water and we ended up with a very, very, very salty rehydrated dinner.
