Modern day Celts believe that the Santiago Holy Year has its origins in the celebration of the ancient solar god Lugha whose feast day is celebrated when the 'Lugnasad' is "Dies Solis" or falls on a Sunday.
As the Lammas festival was a Christian harvest thanksgiving, so also was Lugnasad a pagan harvest feast.
