Getting on the www

Time of past OR future Camino
Hoping to go in April (2014)
This might be a silly question but when I do the walk I would like to get a blog going, as at my age I might suffer from some memory loss. Sooo, I have a Samsung galaxy 10 tablet, but I don't know how I would get on the net with it. Should I get a pocket wireless device? Or should I up date to one that has the wireless, such as an Ipad?
thanks, Trish

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
Your Galaxy Note already has wifi built in so you should be able to use it without any other equipment. Looking under Settings and the first item is to turn wireless on.

Trish, you don't say where you are from. Using data, internet, email, uploading photos etc, can be very costly if you use roaming on your smart phone - especially if you are from a different continent. It might be worth buying a Spanish Sim card to use there instead of your regular Sim card.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Hi ,
If your device has got wifi, you can use it nearly everywhere. Most cafes , and albergues have wifi for free. You will need to ask for the code to get on to it.
Some places there is no wifi but that is rare. Turn off your data roaming package to avoid huge bills, as Sil said.
Using the free wifi, you can access all the usual social media sites, and I used to take photos then upload them to Facebook or Instagram if I wanted to share them , and we set up a group email .
Buen camino,
Helen

In 2011 I updated my blog on computers at albergues but this year I just used my phone (Blackberry). I originally bought a Spanish data card, which was very expensive and so gave up using it when I realised how much it was costing and from then on just used wifi throughout my Camino. I updated my blog every day on my phone and never once used a computer. Wifi is freely available everywhere - most bars and many albergues have wifi. Just get someone to show you how to turn on the wifi on your phone.

from their blog:

We're findingin 2002-2013 that WiFi availability is much more widespread than two years ago ie in 2010 .
I don't see anyone using those coin operated Internet computers that were in high demand the last time we walked in 2010. We are using an iPad mini for all our posting and it is working out just fine. I also use Blogsy, for creating and editing posts. Blogger just doesn't make it as a stand alone blogging app.
