Heaviest Layer

Hi all,

I'm planning to walk the Camino this month (May). What is the heaviest layer that I should bring? I have a long-sleeved, thin Merino top but so far, nothing heavier.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
The weather in May can be changeable, but it seems temps in Pamplona, Burgos and Leon are set to hit 25-30 degrees celsius next week (and even if it's slightly lower there's little chance of you freezing!) - so yeah, I totally agree with falcon, pack the merino top just in case but anything more would be overkill, you'll be fine with a fleece, and the poncho will protect you from rain (or the refreshing chill of a 6am start!) ;)

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-

I walked the Camino in October. Had a technical (waterproof, windproof, breathable) shell and a single insulating layer (nano-puff synthetic sweater). I never had to put the insulating layer on. I found the shell provided enough insulation against wind/cold.
A technical jacket, e.g Marmot Essence or similar, is multi functional and would be very practical. If you tend to get cold easily then a single light insulating layer, otherwise your merino long sleeve should be sufficient. Buen camino.

.... but the long range monthly forecast, after next week, is for much cooler weather moving in, and wet.

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

Go light and in layers.
If it's cold, you can always pick up more gear along the route.
I find that even in quite cold weather, I'm peeling off layers after about 15 minutes walking.
