Camino Frances October 2016
Hello everyone my name is Holly and I will start my first camino from SJPP around October 12. I am planning to take the Napoleon route and stay the night in orisson. I am from Ocean Springs MS so I expect I'll be a slow mover through this part. Only because I'm a flat lander...no other reason. Thanks in advance for any and all information

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Welcome Holly and Buen Camino!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hello and welcome to the forum @Hollygal !

Make sure to pass by the pilgrims office in SJPdP and ask for the weather forecast for the next day and if the Route Napoleon is doable or not. Also, do you have a reservation for Orrison? If not, contact them asap.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

I've contacted them but not made a formal reservation. And yes, will definitely check the weather, I'm a little nervous about it. Didn't really want to start this late.

I'd go ahead and make the reservation. Inquire about cancelling if weather makes it impossible to go that route. As you take those first steps to Orrison..it will be hard, steep and trying. ..but so worth it. I kept telling myself that those first few days areally really known to be the hardest. No matter how much training before you leave ...it's hard. Embrace it...each day will make you stronger...allow the experience to pull you forward. Use walking sticks, they truly help. Talk to pilgrims, share stories, converse with locals, just take it all in. Read evaluate your backpack contents as you go. If your pack feels heavy eliminate items. Mine started at 21 lbs on the third day 10 by day 15.... 6 lbs. Nothing will be so precious to keep if it prevents finishing. Ok I never let go of my favorite hairbrush or my real full size beach towel. And take care of your feet..Rest them ...pamper them with freedom from your socks and shoes several times daily....they deserve it...you can't make it without them. It was the hardest most enriching experience of my life...grab it and enjoy.

Wow! You're a good motivator. Thanks! Last summer I hiked a small portion of the Appalachian Trail that I think will be similar. Gaining 4000 ft in about 7 miles. I carried 30lbs on that adventure (a lot more gear was needed). I made it, but had my daughter pulling me along with "you are stwong woman". Quote from a movie. Might need to record her saying that for motivation and laughter.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
