Hi, I'm new here.

Hi,

I have just joined the forum as I am in the very early stages of planning my pilgrimage. I'm from the USA. I've known of the Camino for years - several acquaintances have completed it - but only recently have I felt "the urge" to walk it myself. This will be my first pilgrimage on the Camino.

After reading several comments this morning I am inclined to walk the Via de la Plata. I will be happy to gain a Camino family as I walk, but crowded conditions are not what I'm hoping for. When I walk distances I am usually alone and do not mind the solitude.

I'm an artist, a writer, a mother, a grandmother, a wife, a walker, and also a pilgrim when I am led to be one.

Thank you for allowing me to be a member of the forum. I look forward to reading posts in the days to come.

Many blessings,
hiker mom

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hiker Mom, some of us are cool weather pilgrims. My Camino Frances was begun in the latter half of winter, and was almost too solitary. While I enjoy company, I don't handle heat - odd, considering where I live. Also, my chances of sleeping through the snores in a crowded albergue are slim.

Look, some pilgrims love the peak-season, the warmth, the crowds - which is terrific. Some even thrive on the competition for beds, hot water and getting the earliest start (maybe not so terrific).

The thing is, there's a Camino for everyone. The challenges of walking in the off-season are just different to those of the peak. I'll always be an off-season pilgrim...but I'm a pilgrim!
