I'm starting training & planning my first Camino early April 15 from JPD. Nervous and excited as this will be a solo adventure for me. Would love to hear from anyone else starting around this time. Anyone from Melbourne (Australia) starting around this time????.

That is an early time to start in the year so you could see some snow getting over the Pyrenees. Listen to the travel advice from the pilgrim's office in SJPdP and if necessary take the alternate route thru Valcarlos.
There is huge group of Camino veterans in Sydney and Melbourne, reach out to them for help and advice.

Welcome to the Forum and the Class of 2015.
A spring start is as many will attest can be a mixed bag of desire trumped by reality.
I should start on April 7th from SJPDP and make the 10km to Orisson. A great place to stop and take a breather.
Here is their web: www.refuge-orisson.com The refuge fills up quickly and the pilgrim's supper is to die for.
They provide the Pilgrim's Office in SJPDP an accurate current forecast of the situation on the Route Napoleon. Listen to what they tell you!!! There are safer routes to take.
You have plenty of time to get the right boots and pack "only" the essentials.
Buen Camino,
