Hola fellow pilgrims - GPS waymarks?

Greetings to you all. My name is Pete, I am a Canadian who lives in the UK and am planning to start my Camino from SJPP next Monday / Tuesday.

My question is does anyone know of any good GPS waypoint information on the Camino? I have found a couple of sites but the Camino doesn't look that well mapped by GPS?

I was lucky enough to walk 100kms+ plus from Saria into Santiago with my then 80 year old father a few years back so can't wait to get back on the trail and go from SJPP. Can any recent travellers advise on the conditions up to Roncesvalles? Really how hard is the climb?

Well done to Ivar (and his contributors) for building an excellent pilgrim site.

Buen Camino to all
Pete

GPS waypoints - data for non travellers

Thanks for your reply Paul, but I am actually looking for GPS waypoints for people that unfortunatly can't travel the camino due to physical restrictions and still would like to map or "see" the route via google earth etc.

As mentioned, I have travelled the path (at least part of it) previously and understand the magic of how those yellow markers appear when and where you least expect them.

a few days to go!

Buen Camino

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
This is a good idea Pete, I have actually been thinking about the same. Since Google updated their maps in Spain a few days ago, the satellite images over northern Spain is now much better. There are still some dark-spots (like Santiago de Compostela old town), but not too bad over all.

If I am not mistaking with Google Earth you can create a virtual "fly-el-camino-frances" at 1000m altitude. With detailed satellite images, this could be quite nice.

Our member michael asked a similar question earlier, but he did not get any response in this forum. Maybe he found something out off the forum? You might contact him and ask. His post here:

If you find something out, could you let us know?

Thanks from a rainy Santiago,
Ivar
