Hi Camino people! How do I go about becoming a hospitalario on the Camino Francis? Is there a list of who needs a volunteer?

Thank you!

Hi @SusanH if you are from Canada and you want to volunteer in a HosVol staffed albergue you should attend the hospitalero training in your country. @tomfriesen with the Canadian Company of Pilgrims is a trainer and can help you find a class. HosVol has volunteers from around the world who have established training programs in the various countries. You also need to have stayed at three albergues that are municipal, assoication, or paroquial. The training is generally 2 or 3 days. Not sure about the Canadian training as I attended my training in the US.

Hi Susan,
Thank you for wanting to serve as a hospitalero. I echo, @J Willhaus about contacting @tomfriesen for information about training in Canada if you have not had it. During the training, you will be told how to apply to serve in an albergue through HosVol. Other albergues do not require this training. Contact @Rebekah Scott for albergues throuhg FICS, another association that places hospitaleras.

I love serving as a hospitalero. I get to give back to the Camino as well as see the Camino through the pilgrims eyes who stay with me and at times, help pilgrims in need.
