I am likely getting into Irun late tomorrow (8/8:30), and while I know the albergue says it's open until 10pm, is it likely it will be full at that time? I of course have back up hostels, but I need to get a credencial (the one thing I left at home haha) as well as a stamp. Anyone who has just started or is in Irun this week? Thanks!

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
You may be lucky and get a late bed at the Albergue, but even if it is full you can still get your Credencial there and a stamp.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hi Devon, that's really good to know, as that's my primary concern. Thank you, I'll keep my fingers crossed!

let me know how it works out for you. I'm a month behind you starting in mid Sept. Thanks

When I visited the albergue last month the hospitalero reported that they had been full every day, which I would imagine to be the case right on through September. The albergue is located in a flat, and the association is working with the city to secure a larger location. It would appear that 50 beds is not enough.

I don't often recommend making a reservation, but inbound travelers arriving late in the day would be wise to do so, methinks.

But I can't make a reservation at the pilgrim hostel, can I?

When I was there September 4th 2016 the albergue was full. Stayed in a small inexpensive pension (E30). The albergue does have credentials but last year passed out written warning the credential was not a official credential and may not be accepted in Santiago. Do not know the current status of the credential they are currently issuing. Might be best to get one from Ivar before you leave. I became a little paranoid over the warning and obtained an official credential at the cathedral office in San Sebastian.

Too late to get one from Ivar now, I start tomorrow, but I will get one in Irun and if I feel fishy about it, I'll pick one up in San Sebastian - that didn't occur to me l, thanks for the advice!!

Cannot find the cathedral's office address, but the cathedral's address is Zabaleta Kalea, 18, 20002 Donostia, Gipuzkoa, Spain. The office is not at the cathedral but on an adjacent street. I got the cathedrael office address from the tourist office, tourist office address is Boulevard Alameda, 8, 20003 San Sebastián, Guipúzcoa, Spain .The office is very helpful, will give you a map on how to get out of town on the Camino. BTY I'm jealous, wish I was there.

Hi all, got in to Irun and to the albergue at 9pm, there was still space! And the 3-4 pilgrims behind me got in as well. Just a lucky dayI guess!
Congratulations, Buen Camino

Dear Pilgrims :) Those who stayed in this albergue in the last couple of weeks, was it usually full by 6 pm? Thanks!
