Hi , my sister and I are flying into Porto on Sept 20th and plan to make our way to the area of Triacastela to start our Camino. I have been attempting to find a way to best get to our starting point. Would it be best to head to Santiago and then back track and go inland from there via local bus/ train system. If anyone has knowledge of the local rail / bus systems in that area we'd love to have some advise .

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Hi. Peter does well to point you to the Rome2Rio site though for this journey I actually found it a bit of a pain. I travelled by coach (a form of transport I'm not usually a fan of) from Santiago to Porto and it was both comfortable and pretty quick. ALSA's (the coach operator) schedule for the 20th is below;

https://www.alsa.es/en/bus-schedules

Porto-Interface Casa da Musica - Santiago Compostela

08.45-14.00

13.00-18.15

16.30-21.45

A couple of things to note- firstly, Spain is an hour ahead of Portugal so the journey is actually an hour shorter than it may seem. Second, the departure point "Casa de Musica" is on the Metro system but a little way from the airport and the centre of town. Arrival is at Santiago Coach station from which you can make your onward journey. Buying on the day my ticket cost me 40 euros, but if you book ahead you may save a few euro.

Hope this is of some help.

Buen Camino,

Rob.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Buen Camino,

Thank you Rob, it looks like a great place to help us get around . From what I can tell so far it looks like an over night may have to happen to get from Porto to a starting point in the Triacastela area .. due to connection times. :(
