Hi all

We are travelling from New Zealand to begin our camino from SJPP May 8th or 9th.
Very excited.
We are travelling on beyond our camino and a question I have is can we send from New Zealand a parcel of clothes for collection at Santiago de Compostela as Im sure after travelling light for the pilgramage we'll be ready for new clothes and dont want to spend precious travelling dollars with the way the exchange rate goes for NZ$ and we are on a budget!

Thanks everyone, not long now......bring it on!

Bernie

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
May is a lovely time to walk the Camino Frances. Everything is green and the spring flowers are spectacular. Look out for the large white and black European stork in their huge nests on top of the towers and church steeples.

I am copying the reply I posted for luggage storage:

The Pilgrim helper will store your luggage in Santiago for up to 60 days. The name of the facility is Pension Badalada. http://www.badalada.es.
Charges are:
Small box (317 x 215 x 125 mm) €15 for 60 days
Medium box (390 x 290 x 190mm) €20 for 60 days
Large box (590 x 390 x 390mm) €25 for 60 days

Address your luggage as follows:

Pension Badalada
ATT: [Your name here]
Rua Xelmírez, 3
15704 Santiago de Compostela
Spain

It will be much cheaper to post your parcel from Spain - or buy a few nice Camino t-shirts and new shorts in Santiago!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Bernie and Graham,
Greetings from a fellow Kiwi:) I just want to suggest that you might find it cheaper to post your gear ahead once you are in Europe. There is a post office in SJPP- and though you would still be paying an 'international' rate to post from there, I imagine it would have to be cheaper than posting a parcel from NZ.
All the best to the pair of you. Not long now!
Margaret (from Palmy)

Thanks everyone, really appreciate your advice.
One more question, are mosquitos a problem?
Im a major food source for them if there are any around, they will leave everyone else and bite me!
Just wonder if mosquito nets are necessary or just industrial strength insect repellant.

Many thank

Bernie
