Is a special route to be followed from Lourdes?

Having heard a few stories, and listened with tears in my eyes as well, I have come to the conclusion that walking the route over the Pyrenees has been on my mind for years, and not really knowing "why?". Now the dream has become a burn , deep down inside me, I need to do this, and now , knowing that there is help along the way, the fear of the unknown is becoming excitement...
MY walk "Pilgrimage" is to start from Lourdes abt. 8th.August 06 across to St.Jean-de-Luz or near, then to Roncesvalles ---......--..---Santiago de Compostela, and if enough time , on to Madrid etc.. There is much to learn and so much to do and so many to thank after the experience. I am told to bring a special part of N.Z. with me to leave somewhere...Where is that "somewhere"? .. thankyou in antisipation! Robert.

I believe you are supposed to bring a pebble from your home country & leave it at the Cruz Ferrero (sp?). I was watching a DVD about the Camino & there were a couple of other places where people left small offerings, especially at the markers of the 2 men who died, one who died one day into the pilgrimage & one who died the day before he was to enter Santiago de Compostela.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

The maps from St Jean Pied de Port to Santiago, then Finnest

Robert,
Here is the Spanish website for the maps I will be using from St. Jean Pied de Port to Santiago then on to Finnestre: http://caminodesantiago.consumer.es/
I found it extremely useful, hope you will too! Click on the dots, they open and give you lots of useful information. I also downloaded the addresses of the albergues, and their photos.
It sounds like we have the same journey in mind!
NLT

Hi Robert,

I am also looking at walking the Camino from Lourdes. The website NLT mentioned is great. Also try http://vppyr.free.fr . This time I will be leaving Lourdes on the 18th August and heading over ther Pyrenees to Somport. The crossing fron SJPdP to Roncesvalles is a wonderful walk, but can be hard work.

Don't forget to take a kiwi pebble with you to leave at the Crux Ferro, just passedRabanal del Camino and Foncebadon, and then I will add mine from Australia a few weeks later.

Good luck and follow those dreams. :)
